How to Use GiliSoft Image Editor on Windows

Add Text to a Photo

1. Open the photo and create a text element

   In Photo Editor, use Import Image to open the picture, then choose Text > New Text. Select the text element and use Edit to replace its placeholder.

2. Style and position the wording

   Set Font Family, Font Size, alignment, Font Color, Background Color, and line spacing. Move or resize the text box so the wording stays readable without covering the subject.

3. Export and check readability

   Choose Export Image and save a new copy. Open it at the size at which it will be viewed and check spelling, contrast, placement, and any clipped words.

Add a Sticker or Uploaded Graphic

1. Open Stickers for the imported photo

   Open the picture in Photo Editor and select Stickers. Choose a library item or use Upload Sticker for your own graphic.

2. Position and style the element

   Use the on-canvas handles to move and size it, then adjust Sticker Opacity. Use Flip, Duplicate, or Delete for the selected element when needed.

3. Export the composition

   Check that the graphic fits the crop and does not cover important content. Choose Export Image and inspect the finished copy.

Add a Photo Frame

1. Open Frames in Photo Editor

   Open the photo with Import Image, then choose Frames on the right.

2. Preview a border

   Select a frame preset and review it around the complete image. Check the corners and edges so the border does not crowd a caption or hide part of the subject.

3. Save the framed photo

   Choose Export Image, save a new copy, and inspect the border at the expected viewing size.

Apply an Overlay

1. Open the Overlays panel

   Import the photo into Photo Editor and select Overlays.

2. Choose a visual treatment

   Preview a light effect, texture, rain, paper, or grain treatment on the actual photo. Compare the subject and text against the effect rather than relying only on the preset thumbnail.

3. Export and inspect the result

   Choose Export Image when the appearance is suitable. Open the saved copy and check color, readability, and important detail.

Add a Text or Logo Watermark

1. Open Add Watermark and load the photo

   Choose Add Watermark from the launcher. Open the intended photo or use Replace image to change its source.

2. Set the mark and its placement

   Choose Text Watermark or Logo Image, enter the wording or select the logo, and set size, Transparency, and Rotation. Use Custom, Tile, or Nine-grid positioning.

3. Save and check the marked copy

   Inspect the placement over the actual photo, then select Save image. Open the output to check the mark's clarity and that it stays inside the image edges.

Watermark Multiple Photos

1. Load the photo set

   Open Batch Addition from the launcher and use Add File(s) to load the photos.

2. Configure and test the shared mark

   Choose a text or logo watermark and review its placement on more than one image, including portrait and landscape photos. Choose Apply to all when the settings fit the set.

3. Save and review the outputs

   Use Save image, then inspect the saved files. Check that the mark is not clipped or placed over a face or product. This workspace repeats watermark addition, not every editing or restoration operation.

Remove a Date Stamp, Label, or Mark

1. Open Watermark Removal

   Choose Watermark Removal and load the photo. Start with Manual Removal for a selected mark.

2. Select the unwanted area

   Use Smart Pen, Brush, Shape, or Lasso. Adjust Radius for brush work and use Eraser to correct the selection, keeping important surrounding detail outside it.

3. Remove, inspect, and save

   Choose Remove and inspect the filled result at 1:1. Refine a visible patch with a smaller selection if needed, then use Save image to save a finished copy.

For text, the workspace also offers Text Removal > Add Box and OCR Recognition. Review the detected area before removal. Filling a covered area does not guarantee exact reconstruction of what was behind the mark.

Remove an Unwanted Object

1. Open Eraser pen and load the photo

   Choose Eraser pen from the launcher. Open the source or use Replace image to switch the photo.

2. Mark and refine the object selection

   Use the selection tools to cover only the object to remove. Correct an oversized selection with Eraser; it changes the selection mask rather than directly deleting the photo's pixels.

3. Process and save the cleanup

   Choose Remove, inspect the result at 1:1, and use smaller passes near textured backgrounds or fine edges. Select Save image when the filled area is suitable.

Replace the Sky in a Photo

1. Open Change Sky and load the source

   Choose Change Sky from the launcher. Load the photo, using Replace when a different source is needed.

2. Choose the new sky

   Select an Example image or use the plus area to upload a sky background. Compare its light and color with the scene.

3. Inspect the edges and save

   Check branches, hair, building outlines, and the horizon in the processed picture. Select Save and inspect the saved copy before sharing it.

Restore or Colorize an Old Photo

1. Open Old Photo Repair

   Choose Old Photo Repair from the launcher and load the photo or scan you want to improve.

2. Choose the restoration task

   Select Old photo restoration, Coloring, or Super resolution according to the result you need, and let the selected processing finish.

3. Review and save a separate copy

   Compare faces, lettering, clothing, and background patterns with the source before choosing Save. Keep the original scan; added color is an interpretation rather than verified historical color.

Enlarge and Restore a Portrait

1. Open Face Repair and check the source size

   Choose Face Repair, load the portrait, and review Original image size.

2. Set enlargement and face restoration

   Choose an Enlargement multiple and check Enlarged size. Enable Face restoration when needed, then select Enlarge. The screenshot's 4X setting is only an example.

3. Inspect the face and save

   Compare facial features and fine detail with the original, then select Save. Check the saved dimensions and appearance; a larger image is not proof that generated detail matches the original scene.

Enhance Color or Low-Light Photos

1. Open Image Enhancement

   Choose Image Enhancement from the launcher and load the photo to improve.

2. Choose the enhancement and process

   Select Color enhancement or Low light enhancement, then choose Enhance and wait for the processed result.

3. Check the appearance and save

   Review skin tones, bright areas, shadows, and useful texture before selecting Save. Open the new copy to confirm the result outside the preview.

Reduce Haze or Image Noise

1. Open De-Fog & Denoising

   Choose De-Fog & Denoising from the launcher and load the photo.

2. Generate the required treatment

   Select Defogging for haze or Noise reduction for visible image noise, then choose Generate.

3. Compare detail and save

   Inspect the result at full size, including natural edges and textures. Choose Save when the processed copy improves the image without losing useful detail.
